When the representative tells you to make the blinds 3inches wider-listen to her. I make them 2inches wider and they don't control the light coming in at the edges as much when they aren't wider. Other than that I love them! Oh yes--make sure to remind them to put installation instructions in the box. It took some phone calls and finally received an email from the mfg.

Love the roman shade overall. The only problem I have is when the shade is being pulled down the closer you get to the window sil the harder it is to pull. It feels as though if I pull too hard the string will break. Other than that they look great in the room.

I purchased four of these for two separate atrium style doors. Unfortunately for me, I started with shades 3 and 4 according to Steve, and the installation instructions were with shade 1 of 4. Not a huge deal because I have half of a brain, it just took longer than it should have. I just assumed that they were shipped with no instructions at all. My 'hard to install' comment would pertain to that fact, and the design of the actual hanging brackets themselves. While they are sturdy and went up with relative ease, affixing the shade to them was a little more difficult. Also realizing that I failed to install the bracket for the valance, I have to remove the shades which is a daunting task because of these brackets. It's both a positive (sturdiness) and a negative (difficult to remove). I was also surprised to find that the backing of these shades was a vinyl product, probably to keep them in the hobbled form that I order them. When first installed, they looked terribly unnatural because the hobble folds just stuck straight out, but over time, they've started to sag a little more appropriately. They also have a strong odor that I believe is coming from this vinyl product. It has gotten less noticeable over the last couple of weeks since I installed them. The cordless mechanism is great, and the shades are nearly perfect for this type of door because they are light. If I had to place this order again, I would probably order them unhobbled so as to have less of a gap between the window and the shade (up to 6 inches in some case). The only other drawback is that the door handles are partially covered by the shade (because the handles protrude into the window area), but I knew that was going to be the case when I ordered these shades.
