1. Check for sufficient clearance for shutter mounting by measuring wall around window edge. 2 1⁄8" of clearance is required on all 4 sides. Windows with sill requires clearance on 3 sides. Shutter will completely overlap the window opening by 2" and install on the wall not inside the window opening. If your clearance is LESS THAN 2 1⁄8", please consider another window treatment. Please Note: For drywall with rounded edges (bullnose), if the radius of the corner is greater than 1" measure from where wall becomes flat for window opening size.
2. Check depth obstruction. Check depth of window opening toward the glass to the first obstruction. The first obstruction could be a window frame, a handle on a double hung window or a crank handle on casement window. Record the smallest measurement of any of these conditions.
3. Measure window width. Measure exact window width at top, middle, and bottom. Record the largest measurement. (For rounded edges, take measurements from where
the wall becomes flat.)
4. Measure window height. Measure height in three places (left, middle & right) and record the largest measurement. If there’s a sill, measure from top of sill. (For rounded
edges, take measurements from where the wall becomes flat.)
Wood-Wrapped Window
1. Check for squareness (Measure to see if your window is square). Measure from opposing corners and record
your measurements in the spaces. Calculate the difference between the two measurements. If the difference between the two measurements is more than 1⁄4", please consider another window treatment.
2. Check depth obstruction. Check depth of window opening toward the glass to the first obstruction. The first obstruction could be a window frame, a handle on a double hung window or a crank handle on casement window. Record the smallest measurement of any of these conditions.
3. Is your window a tilt-in or a non tilt-in? If Tilt in: You must have a depth of 3 1⁄2" ore more. Non-tilt in windows must have a depth of 1 3⁄4” or greater. If your window does not meet there requirements please consider another window treatment.
4. Measure window width. Measure exact window width at top, middle, and bottom. Record the largest measurement.
5. Measure window height. Measure height in three places (left, middle & right) and record the smallest measurement.
